NTEC Sweeps the Winter Series II Grand Prix

February, 2011

Jordan Appel and Einstein jumping the Grand prix course

Christian Heineking and River of Dreams beat out 20 other horses to win the $25,000 Great Southwest Equestrian Center Grand Prix on February 12th, 2011 in Katy, Texas (click here to view a video of this ride). His student, Jordan Appel and her horse Einstein, were the only other clear round of the evening and took second place (click here to view a video of this ride). Jordan, at 16 years old, was the youngest competitor in the Grand Prix (see photo at right of Jordan and Einstein jumping the Grand Prix course and Christian Heineking and River of Dreams below taking 1st Place). This lead to a very exciting jump off with trainer riding against student.

NKH Barbosa had a great round in the Grand Prix bringing home the 6th place ribbon. The Grand Prix was the highlight of a successful 2 weeks for all the NTEC jumpers in attendance. Jordan and Einstein brought home the Champion ribbon in the High Junior/Amateur Owner division. Jeremy Lassiter and his new horse, Price, had several placings in the Low Children's Jumpers. Ivy French and her horse, Christoff, also were solid with a win and many placings in the Low and High Adult Amateur Jumpers.
